This card was made for one of my grand-daughters who has a birthday this summer. I had admired the "name card" technique I saw demonstrated by Ashley Morrison at: It requires the use of a digital cutting machine, but I've seen it done with dies, too using a technique called "Partial Die Cutting". For a tutorial on this technique, check out Partial Die Cutting Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers.
I used my Brother ScanNCut CM350 for not only cutting my grand-daughter's name, but also for cutting out the unicorn from Stampin' Up! (SU) "Myths & Magic" specialty paper using the machine's great scanning, then direct cutting capability.
The pink letters are cut from a glossy embossed paper from a paper pack so that they really catch your eye. The inside of the card is lined with a similar shade of flat pink cardstock that was cut just a tad smaller than the white portion of the card, so if formed a liner on the inside.
The sentiment is from the SU "Lift Me Up" stamp set. I happens to be a two-line sentiment that I cut the stamp in half horizontally so I can use the "Happy Birthday" alone, or with the rest of the sentiment. It was stamped in SU Melon Mambo ink.
I chose three different sized white pearls, and colored them with my Copic alcohol marker called "Light Prawn" so they would match the pink on the un-embossed parts of the cardstock used to cut out the letters.
The little unicorn was attached to the card front using adhesive foam strips.
The card was a bit challenging, so Ashley's video tutorial helped a LOT! I am rating the difficulty level as a "3" out of a possible "5" for experienced crafters.
